What If You Attended As An Atheist?
by metatron ingiven the weird world of the watchtower, i do wonder if this has ever happened: a witness keeps going to meetings as an atheist!.
suppose a baptised witness tells his family and friends that he has lost all faith in god's existence but still attends meetings faithfully and is friendly, maybe even handing out the occasional tract!.
i sometimes wonder if, since going to meetings is almost everything, if they would shrug their shoulders and accept it!.

You need a messiah
by StopTheTears inyou might well ask that question, do we need a messiah?
yes, it would be logical to wonder whether a messiah would have any real effect on you.. .
some whose opinion you may respect would assure you that the answer is clear and unequivocal: you definitely do need a messiah, just as much as everyone else does.. .

hmm.. that still doesn't answer my question on what i need a messiah for. and how many are there to choose from? if i really need one, i'd prefer a small one, as i don't have a big flat.
if it costs everything, it's not a big savior then. i'd rather put my money in a savings account.
no, i am not a sinner. probably not perfect either, don't know what you mean by perfection, but the flaws i am aware of are simply flaws, not sins.

i am not a sinner.
and what's the benefit of having a messiah? what is he/she good for? how much is the total cost of ownership?

i just came back from the memorial
by J. Hofer init wasn't all that bad.
met a few friends who also don't give too much about it and had some great laughs afterwards.
we talked about how we still remember when only about 7000 took from the emblems and now its more than 11000. we also laughed about how it would look like having jesus and his disciples pass around wine and bread on a plate like that.. all in all it was the same procedure as every year.

all in all it was the same procedure as every year. i guess many of the visitors asked themselves when does the actual celebration start... it was just short enough to still stomach it. and it's been nice to see a few of the other inactive ones.
oh, and most acted pretty normal, no "nice to see you" stuff, with a few exceptions. and one elder who came to the congregation after i stopped attending greeted me as if we always knew each other, which was kind of strange... either way, next year i'll have the flu on the 14th of nissan.

Couple of "Human Evolution" Questions (Seriously), If I May...
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
i know, i know... from body members: why is she going there, again??
but... i have what i believe are a couple/few valid questions, so i must ask that you indulge me, if you can.

evolution does not mean becoming something "better". there's no final goal in evolution. it just means that a mutant is still able to live and reproduce for some time. due to technology, part of humanity is probably evolving into some kind of cyborgs. there's even the possibility of some autonomous technological evolution with "artificial" intelligence, think terminator.
and you can't say there's micro evolution but not macro evolution. those are only terms to describe different timeframes. in the end both are simply evolution. so yes, it's entirely possible to have some humans evolve into flying "creatures" in some 500.000 years. but i think it's more likely for humans to go extinct in the meantime.

Which one of these men will you kill...if either?
by Terry ini like to perform "thinking experiments" like einstein use to do.
of course, he was better equipped for it than i am.
but, dash it all, i do anyway.. i imagine two men sitting side by side in a train station waiting on a train.. they more are less look like fairly "normal" people.
-
J. Hofer
dunno... because i can.
in addition, the serial killer would kill the scientist anyway. it's a 50% chance that i kill the scientist and the serial killer goes on a killing spree. by killing them both, this threat is 100% removed.
of course, there's also a 50% chance to have a cure for cancer.
but those buttons look way too tempting...

so it's not possible to kill them both?
